Josh Barton is the firm’s Associate attorney. Born and raised in Massachusetts, Josh relocated to North Carolina for college where he earned his undergraduate degree from Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, N.C.  Josh earned his law degree from North Carolina Central University School of Law in Durham. He was admitted as a member of the North Caroline State Bar in October of 2019 and joined Lockamy Law Firm shortly thereafter. During law school, Josh worked at the State Employees’ Credit Union as a Senior Financial Services Officer while attending NCCU’s night program.

In practice, Josh focuses on estate planning and estate administration and assists the firm’s real estate practice. Josh developed his passion for estate planning and administration before he became an attorney. He knew early on estate planning and estate administration was something he was interested in after seeing how poorly organized his grandparents’ estates were and the difficulty his parents had in administering them. In his role at SECU, Josh observed many messy estate situations and further realized the importance of a succinct estate plan. Josh strives to educate his clients to provide them with the foundation to make decisions unique to their situation.

When not at work, Josh loves spending time with his wife, Kelsi, their children, and their dog. Josh and his family are members of the Summit Church and attend the North Durham Campus. Having been born a block away from where basketball was invented, Josh is an avid NBA fan who devotedly follows the Boston Celtics.
